Heather Sanders was a featured dancer with the Southern Ballet Theater in Orlando, Florida, when she gave birth for the first time. Sanders was facing both her new role as a mother and a demanding lead role in the classical ballet “Giselle,” scheduled just a few months later. This photo essay followed Sanders leading up to opening night as she worked to find the perfect balance.
